Summer racing at Ruakaka.

Racing for 2023 is over for Ruakaka with the running of the meeting on Saturday September 9. The next meeting is scheduled for Friday January 5, 2024.

The Alibaba’s Flying Carpets Kerikeri Cup meeting was well supported by Kerikeri businesses and their supporters who enjoyed a successful punters’ club in the Bonecrusher Lounge.

The day belonged to Jasmin Fawcett with her three winners with apprentice Masa Hashizume not far behind with winning rides on Stunning Maire and Malfy Rosa.

Officially two winners were trained locally, Bezique and Malfy Rosa, but Leitrim Lad and Stunning Maire had enjoyed being on-course for a while.

For the calendar year of 2023 two local trainers in Chris Gibbs and Kenny Rae/Krystal Williams had the most success with seven winners each. Ex-South African rider Warren Kennedy was the leading rider with nine wins, closely followed by Tegan Newman and Jasmine Fawcett with seven winners each.
