Ruakaka Christmas at the Races 

The perfect way to end the year with a Christmas party at the Races. Bring your workmates, friends or family and come celebrate with an afternoon of thoroughbred racing action at this idyllic beachside location and let us look after all the details including themed spaces, live entertainment, Christmas fare and if you’re lucky a visit from Santa.

Six races during the afternoon provides a great entertainment backdrop to your work function and allows colleagues to mix and mingle. The centrally located big screen brings all the back straight action up close with live music between races in the grandstand undercroft. There is a free return race day bus service from Whangarei.

Plan ahead for a year end celebration. Check out these options for your work social function or a celebration with clients or staff.

Come dressed in smart-casual wear but remember it is an outdoor event and is weather dependent so there maybe changes to what is available and the timing of events. Read the Ts and Cs of entry in the About Section.

Transport and Car Parking: 

Car parking at the course is free.

Bus times for the free return raceday buses from Whangarei will depart from Kamo Club; Kamo Hotel; Kensington Tavern; Rose Street Bus Terminal; The Judge House of Ale.  Times to be confirmed closer to the date. The buses will return approx 20 minutes after the last race.

Food & Drink

Bars, Bayview Cafe, Bean on the Scene coffee van and betting operations will be open from an hour before the first race.

Indoor/Outdoor Options

Choose your spot .. ..on the lawn hill, on the seats in the shade of the grandstand roof all with no charge. Or book for your Christmas function.

Eftpos will be available from selected betting windows and bars. No credit card facilities or paywave.

FUNCTION OPTIONS

You’re right in the heart of the racing action in the premium Santa’s Trackside Marquee Village. Located on the front lawn of the home straight. This is the perfect location to enjoy the excitement of the races and feel the horses thundering past the Winning Post.

Your package includes:

  • Reserved 3m x 3m mini marquee for 10 guests with table and 10 chairs.
  • Racebooks and pens at table.
  • Two beverage vouchers per guest.
  • Antipasto platter to start the day followed by a Christmas themed buffet BBQ with dessert platter to your marquee.
  • Dedicated Bar and TAB Facilities in this exclusive trackside village with cash bar (or corporate bar tab an option for businesses).
  • Big screen located directly opposite so that you don't miss the action down the back straight.

NB: Bookings are for 10 guests per marquee group. Marquees can be joined together for larger groups. A table and umbrella with seating for up to 8 additional guests can be added to the front of your marquee for $140 per person.

Sponsor a race name on the day and gain exposure for your business with advertising, national race name exposure, signage space for 12 months, personal engagement with racing industry participants on the day after your named race in the Dean Logan Winners Circle with the winning connections and priority bookings and positioning for hospitality packages on the day (subject to availability).  

 

Highly sought- after premium elevated track viewing and views over Bream Bay from this function area at the northern end of the grandstand. View the racing from the comfort of your table on the flat screen TV’s or step out the door to watch the horses thunder past from the elevated grandstand.

  • Reserved seating in the Corporate function lounge - Tables (8)
  • Racebooks and pens on your reserved table
  • Starters to your table, followed by Christmas themed buffet and dessert, tea and coffee
  • Three beverage vouchers per guest
  • Dedicated TAB services and bar facilities available in the room with cash bar (or corporate bar tab an option for businesses).

Ideal for small businesses or groups of friends; reserve seats or tables in the Christmas themed Beachside Bar and share in the end of the year and Christmas celebrations. This room is centrally located in the grandstand with views over Bream Bay. View the racing from the comfort of your table on the flat screen TV’s or step out the door to watch the horses thunder past from the elevated grandstand.

  • Reserved seating in the Beachside Bar – Tables of 10, 8 or shared
  • Racebooks and pens on your reserved table
  • Drink on arrival with Christmas themed buffet and dessert, tea and coffee
  • Dedicated TAB services and bar facilities available in the room with cash bar (or corporate bar tab an option for businesses).

Intimate room located at the rear of the grandstand overlooking the Hen and Chick Islands in the Bay. Suitable 20-30 guests who want a private base but are happy to wander out for a bet. TVs for race viewing and betting odds. Flexible catering options.
