Trainers Information

The Ruakaka Training Complex is used by more than 15 trainers and produced over 130 horses for more than 650 starts last season.


In 2009 the complex became a recognized Strategic Training Venue (B) by New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing.


The Ruakaka Training Centre provides facilities enabling trainers based north of Auckland to train on the track throughout the year, with adjacent beach access to the stabling areas.


Training facilities include:

  1. Tracks (main grass, training grass, sand track and beach)

  2. Yards and Boxes

  3. Wash downs

  4. Tie-ups

  5. Facilities for vet and blacksmith


Registered Trainers

Only trainers with approval to stable on the course or with a visiting trainer permit can use the facilities. The forms can be completed by downloading these PDF’s or contact the office on 09 432 7249 or for copies to be emailed or posted.


Trainers must be approved by the Club to have access to the beach as a condition of the consent provided by DOC for horses using the beach.
