Thank you! It was great to see such a big crowd enjoy the Trigg Family Fun Race Day on Thursday.
It was just over a year since we could invite public and our members to a race meeting at Ruakaka so were so lucky to get just the perfect summer weather. A great crowd with many children enjoyed the many fun activities and the racing. The course was stretched and to indicate the size of the meeting the betting was fifty percent higher than the same meeting a year ago.
NEWS FROM THE DAY
Punters' Club tickets are worth $21. To find out how to collect your winnings, if you didn't on the day, please read the details on the reverse side of your ticket.

So many thankyous are needed to our volunteeer supporter groups that help us deal with the size of the meeting. Thankyou Mid Western Lions, Marsden Lions, Pulse Dance Group, WDC Endless Summer Festival, Bream Bay St Johns, Ruakaka Surf Club, Bream Bay College and Tauraroa Area School.
The bucket collection for the Ruakaka Surf Club raised a wonderful $2,200 so thank you to all those donors.
The race meeting was sponsored by local and Northland regional businesses with the local Marsden Cove business Trigg Construction leading the way with support from our long-term Bay Of Islands racing friends in Fell Engineering; we welcomed Karl Benson from KB Northland for the first time, regular Lion Red representative Brett Robinsion greatly assisted us; the Kamo Club who make the rustic barn their own for the day; Northland Business Systems who provide us with the office equipment; Hirepool who are always great supporters with the extra generators we need; the Whangaripo Valley Free Range Egg farm that presents the most unique and greatly appreciated "chook" trophy and Macsway Scaffolding.
Dennis and Murray from LED Media did a great job on the camera and big screen to deliver all of the on track activities and presentations.
The racing had some good sized fields to create a number of very competitive finishes. The star of the day was visiting jockey Craig Grylls. Certainly in a first for me Craig flew his two seater plane up, landed on the back straight, parked up the unsued 1000 metre chute and then went on to ride five winners on the day!
Great to see a the local trainers in Chris Gibbs and Rae Racing stables have success on the day.
