Bill Colgan / Thursday, 5 November 2020 / Categories: Latest News GREAT SUPPORT FROM LOCAL BUSINESS TRIGG CONSTRUCTION Marsden Point business Trigg Construction has jumped at the chance to support the local race club and community by sponsoring the traditional summer, family fun race meeting at Ruakaka racecourse on Thursday January 7th. Co-owner Marlene Trigg stated that “the business has always attended the summer meeting and taking on the naming rights to ensure there was a continuation of the free kids’ activities was an easy decision. This arrangement complements our sponsorship of the Bream Bay Sports Awards and many other causes. We always enjoy being involved in our local community.” The racing club has been challenged this year with only two race meetings instead of eleven and the national racing authority (NZTR) has withdrawn funding and marketing support for the very successful national race meeting franchises previously known as the Interislander Summer Festival and Christmas at the Races. These circumstances have placed considerable financial pressure on the Whangarei Racing Club. Chairman of the Club Mike Beazley commented that “2020 has been a tough challenging year for a lot of sporting clubs. With the greatly appreciated support from Trigg Construction, the Club can commence 2021 with a summer holiday crowd at the “Trigg Family Fun Race Day” and continue to provide a full range of free activities for the kids.” The Club is expecting to conduct eight thoroughbred races during the afternoon with free activities for kids in the “Trigg Kids’ Zone”, and some fun races for kids on the track, between the later races.
